Description

Citizens with chronic back pain, Svendborg Municipality, the University of Southern Denmark (SDU), and UCL University College (UCL) are co-designing the best possible rehabilitation efforts for people with chronic back pain in the research project "My Back!". The project is based on the experiences and solutions of citizens, municipal employment and health professionals, combined with research-based knowledge, forming the foundation for development and implementation within the municipal organization through an innovative approach.
The aim is to support citizens in managing a life with chronic back pain, to develop the competencies of employment and healthcare professionals, and to potentially reduce municipal costs related to back pain.
The project involves collaboration between research departments, including the Health Sciences Research Centre and the Applied Welfare Research program, as well as the bachelor’s programs in nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, social work, and public administration.

Back pain is one of the biggest health challenges in Denmark, affecting both individuals and society.
Through the research project "My Back!", citizens with chronic back pain, municipal employment and healthcare professionals, and researchers will work together to create a new holistic approach to support citizens in managing life with chronic back pain, develop the competencies of employment and health professionals, and reduce municipal costs related to back pain.
