Project Details

Description

The main objective of this nature preschools in Nordic countries project is the co-production and sharing of knowledge on the implications of nature preschool practices for children's learning and development. This effort will contribute to developing quality and innovation in the educational systems. Early childhood experiences are important for further development in a lifespan. This project connects to ESD goal 4 on social sustainability as well as the development
of crucial competencies for 21st-century skills such as creativity, critical thinking, and problemsolving. The project will go over one year with participatory workshops, digital meetings, and seminars to establish and foster a Nordic Nature Preschool network, which brings together existing knowledge regarding research on and good practices of Nordic nature kindergartens. By enhancing co-production and sharing knowledge on the implications of Nordic nature
kindergartens for children's learning and development, we aim to learn from each other's distinct practices and research approaches. There is already cooperation between the higher education institutions involved in the topic of
nature preschool. This project will extend the cooperation with preschools as equal partners, meaning that the project will combine the exchange of knowledge and development of pedagogical practices in nature preschools in Norway, Denmark, and Sweden and between two sectors, preschools, and higher education institutions. The preschools have been selected due to their experience and expertise and their long-lasting practice as nature kindergartens. The
working language will be Nordic languages. Shared and published material will be available i Nordic languages.
