Revisiting places, repeating themes - a comparative case study on two Danish climate change reports that uses repetition and revisiting as narrative strategies

Project Details

Description

Chapter in an international anthology on climate reporting.

In 2004 the Danish national newspaper Jyllands-Posten made a series of long form investigative reports on environmental changes. In 2019 the newspaper repeated the reporting by revisiting the same places spanning five different continents. The new series of long form articles – named “The Climate Tour 2019” – was carried out by the same journalists as the 2004 reporting series but the 2019 series made further use of new media strategies and digital storytelling. In my case study I will carry out a comparative analysis between the 2004 and 2019 reporting focusing on analyzing the uses of repetition and revisiting as narrative strategies. Furthermore, the comparative analysis will investigative how digital storytelling is used in the narrative strategy.

The anthology is edited by Pablo Calvi, Stony Brook University, USA and will be published by Palgrave Macmillan.
