Viborg Animation Festival 2021

Project Details

Description

Viborg Animation Festival is Denmark's largest animation festival.

VAF believes that animation artists and animation crafts must be cultivated, celebrated and disseminated. This is done through the four festival tracks; FILM, ANIMOK, CULTURE and INDUSTRY. It offers animation-related film programs, cultural events and professional conferences for both the general population, the animation industry and buyers of animation products.

VAF must push the boundaries of animation and challenge the audience and the industry's perception of what animation is - and can be. It happens with the festival as a showcase for the animation medium's many possibilities. The festival is filled with attractive animation experiences of high artistic quality, and presents Danish and international film culture to the citizens of Viborg, as well as animation enthusiasts from all over the country.

VAF constantly seeks to support collaboration opportunities and potentials in the animation industry across national borders. Efforts are being made to develop capacity and competencies in the industry, as well as to make the animation's potentials visible to buyers of the industry's products. Here, there is a special focus on events that support, cultivate and promote the Danish talent pool

VAF is All things Animated!

More about the ANIMOK track:
ANIMOK is Denmark's animation festival for children in day care and schools, as well as families and young people. During the track VAF ANIMOK, free film programs are planned and curated, an animation competition for schools is held and teaching material is prepared for high-quality films and workshops. The track and associated events aim to promote the development of social, cultural and creative communities in children, and therefore work is targeted with both locally, nationally and internationally rooted initiatives

More about the Film track:
The film program and the associated activities are VAF's core. Through this, VAF presents festival audiences every year to a solid program with some of the best Danish and international animated films from recent years, both in our international competition programs and in our family programs. VAF's ambition is to promote the audience's understanding of storytelling, of the animation craft and the enormous power that the medium possesses as a storytelling tool.

More about the Culture track:
Below, VAF presents a large number of animation and film-related events, an ambitious collection of activities, all of which are in the field of tension between animation, art and technology, and which challenge the traditional film medium. VAF's ambition with this initiative is to focus on the potential of animation in an artistic and game-oriented context and thereby open the doors to a larger market and business potential for animators, artists, VFX artists, the VR field, game developers and the gaming industry.

More about the Industry track:
All events under VAF Industry are based on the use of animation as a professional tool in various industries and aim to help create increased awareness of animation's potentials as more than entertainment, both among the general population and among the buyers of the digital visual industry. . The track contains conferences, seminars, symposia and meetings for professional animators, game developers, producers, graphic narrators, illustrators, etc. as well as buyers of animation.
