Abstract

An increased body of literature recognizes the importance of patient and public involvement in health care. Patient and public involvement is an acknowledged and internationally widespread focal point in contemporary health care and research. Recently, therehas also been an increasing interest in including patient and public involvement in thecurriculum of health care education. To meet this need in the future education of healthcare professionals, the present study aim to explore which methods there exist, to implement patient and public involvement in healtcare educations within the framework of Reflective Practice-based Learning.The methods usedTo identify the methods used for patient and public involvement in the curriculum inhealth care educations a scoping review inspired by a specific step by step modul will beconducted. Findings will be used to conduct a qualitative thematic analysis to identify therelationship between methods used for patient and public involvement in education andthe fundamental principles in the Reflective Practice-based Learning framework.Implications for future practiceTo understand how students within health education achieves knowledge, skills, andcompetencies in patient and public involvement it is considered necessary to gain moreknowledge about how to organize educational courses that promote the future studentscompetencies within this field. Therefore, findings from this study may have several important implications for future practice towards methods used in promoting patient andpublic involvement in health education curriculum
