Clinical Supervision as a Three-Legged Profession: Insights from an Action Learning and Action Research Project in Nursing Education

Clinical supervision constitutes a central arena for professional identity formation in nursing education, yet the field is characterised by tensions between everyday clinical practice, learning processes and quality assurance. At the same time, organisational restructuring, specialisation and efficiency demands transform the context of supervision. The project "Developing Clinical Supervision" seeked to qualify and explore this practice in depth, both as a professional function and as a learning context for students and supervisors. The aim was to develop and investigate clinical supervision as a professional practice, focusing on:
• how clinical supervisors understand and enact their supervisory role;
• how professional identity and reflection develop through collective learning processes;
• how new forms of supervision emerge in changing institutional contexts.
