Abstract

As a professional in higher education, and in particular in internationalisation, you need to be aware of the conditions for bias, your own biases and how bias can be unconsciously present in your language and the mirror you present to students and other staff. Do they see themselves reflected in your practice? This session will discuss bias – unconscious bias in particular – and how the everyday use of language has the power to disadvantage and disempower.
