Abstract

This is a protocol for a Cochrane Review (intervention). The objectives are as follows:
The primary objective is to investigate the benefits and harms of general strengthening exercise therapy in adults with chronic nonspecific low back pain on pain intensity, functional limitations, health-related quality of life, psychological functioning, and adverse events
compared to placebo, sham, or attention control and no treatment (including waitlists, control groups with no treatment provided, usual/ normal care not controlled by the trial available to all treatment groups, or when the exercise and comparison groups receive the same co-interventions).
