Abstract
Background: Existing research indicates that meaningful integration of theory and practice has a significant impact on the desire of nursing students and newly graduated nurses to remain in the nursing profession. Understanding how the theory of person-centred practice is integrated into nursing education is therefore of paramount importance connecting theory and practice. The aim is to systematically map published studies about person-centred practice and the use of person-centred theory as a framework to construct the educational curriculum of nursing students. Methods: This scoping review will be guided by the framework described by Arksey and O’Malley (2005) and reported according to the PRISMA -ScR. A systematic search will be performed in Medline, Cinahl, Embase, PsycINFO and SVEMED+. Discussions: The scoping review will identify any gaps in this field and provide suggestions for future research.
