Abstract

This report is an evaluation of the pilot of Itslearning (ITSL). The pilot was started in primo November 2017 via online competence development and workshops held by pedadogical and it-guides at working with IT and Digitalization. In the course of the first quarter of 2018 the pilots are developed and the evaluation occurs in the period between 19th february 2018 and 15th martch 2018. The evaluation consisted of a questionnaire and focus-group interview design. Questionnaires were sent to teachers (Appendix 1) and students (Appendix 2). 428 students and 49 teachers (4 of which were from the administration dept) received the questionnaire. 39% of students completed the questionnaire (of which 7% were partial completions) and 82% of teachers and administration answered the questionnaire. 26 teachers, 3 from the administration and 4 students participated in 1 hour long interviews. Students were chosen based on request from the teachers, where one teacher from every pilot class was asked to choose 2 students to participate in interviews. 8 out of 19 classes successfully recruited 2 students. Out of 16, 4 participated in interviews but they had all collected and discussed the views of the other students in the class such that the chosen students' statements should reflect the experiences of the class. Appendix 3 shows the distribution of participants in the focus group interview.

Initially, the report summarizes the evaluation and presents a series of recommendations based on the results of the questionnaires and interviews as well as experiences of the pedagogical it-counsellors etc. The report investigates the following topics: use of the system (guides to increase familiarity with ITSL), ease of use (functions, navigation), use of Plans (Templates, adjustments), Use of Activities and Resources (Which, how and why?), Use of communication options, and use of the mobile app. Each topic is introduced in regards to process and frequently asked questions before the results of the investigation are presented. Results are presented as the teachers' responses on the questionnaire, students' responses on the questionnaire and a summary of the questions and answers that arose during the focus group interviews.
