Kulturakademie: gemeinsam und Gemeinsames

Abstract

The presentation outlines visions about the present Interreg project Kulturakademie within the German-Danish border region. The pivotal point of the project is the meeting between German and Danish elementary school classes at a German and a Danish museum, respectively, where they test out an education program about a specific topic within natural science, cultural anthropology, or the arts. A PhD project is investigating the meeting between pupils and employing an empirical focus on participant communication and interaction. The preliminary observations of the project show that the communication and interaction between pupils must be scaffolded extensively through museum didactics, when pupils either not at all or only to a very limited extent are able to communicate in the neighbouring language. Theories on similarities or points of similarity and transculturality are able to shed light on the potential of such meetings, in which historical and cultural points in common are brought to centre, and it seems that points of similarity become more visible to pupils through common activities.
