Abstract

The home is often conceptualised as a place of shelter and privacy, a place for socialising with family and friends, and where key events are shared. Thus, the home can also be a site for caregiving and care receipt. The demographic, economic and technological development in the welfare state of Demark has led to the transfer of care from hospitals to private homes. This change may affect the relative’s life and the relationship between the patient and relatives. This study examines how close relatives experience treatment and caregiving in their private homes.
