Abstract

This report is the result of the first Intellectual Output (IO1) of the PAESIC project and its purpose is to outline the findings on a European level, highlighting similarities and differences across countries and cultures and the needs for a better inclusion. This report and the findings comprise an important foundation for the development of the project.
The report is written based on national reports done by each partner country: Germany, Greece, Italy, and Denmark after having carried out focus group interviews and in-depth interviews with teachers and school leaders, whereby protocols for these interviews were followed. Themes emerging from the interviewed across partner countries are further explored as part of desk researches, which investigated themes highlighted by participants. Moreover, the desk research should aim to gain a 'snapshot' of the local, regional and national issues of importance linked to the issues of how to promote social inclusion.
