Abstract
This paper places its contribution to the rising practice-based research stream on strategic organizational change by responding to emerging calls for greater emphasis on history in strategy-as-practice research. The aim of the paper is to advance understandings of strategizing as a socio-historically embedded
practice; this is achieved by applying the praxeology of Bourdieu to a 5-month multi-sited ethnographic study, with a focus on management’s perceptions of history as an obstacle for change during a strategic organizational change process, in a Danish telecommunications service company.
