Abstract
INTRODUCTION. Technology is an indispensable part of healthcare; however, research indicates that currently, healthcare professionals’ skills may not be updated to accommodate how to use technologies in cooperation with patients, and there is still a lack of implementation of relevant technology and an overuse of technology. The course addresses how healthcare professionals can apply digital technology constructively and critically for people with acute or chronic pain. AIM. This 3-year ERASMUS+ project (2022-2025) aims to provide healthcare students with digital skills and competencies related to patients with pain so they can apply technologies in their future clinical practice. Additionally, the project aims to develop teachers´ expertise in creating, planning, describing, and testing new digital learning approaches. The project will, therefore, use Reflective Practice-Based Learning as the outline for developing blended learning and real-life scenarios to meet the student´s learning needs. METHODS. Literature search, content analysis, surveys, and focus group interviews with stakeholders in the four countries. RESULTS. The results of the ERASMUS+ project are a fully developed and tested freely available teaching course and xMOOC on how healthcare professionals can apply technology constructively and critically for people with pain, applicable across Higher Educational Institutions within healthcare worldwide.
