The local youth club: a place FOR or OF children and young people? About the tension, volunteering, civil society, and leisure-time pedagogy

Research output: Contribution to conference without a publisher/journalAbstractCommunication

Abstract

The workshop is based on a project that examines how the local
club becomes established as a meaningful place within the
dynamic tension between being a place FOR children and youth
and being a place OF children and youth. Through this lens, the
project aims to contribute to a deeper understanding of how civil
engagement and pedagogical practices intersect in the creation
of inclusive, democratic, and locally rooted leisure spaces.
Grounded in theories of co-creation, pedagogical
entrepreneurship, and place-based pedagogy, the project
explores place-making practices that emerge in the interaction
between volunteerism and leisure pedagogy.
