Abstract
Abstract. Managers in the Tourism industry in Southern Denmark are reluctant to embark on the voyage towards digital transformation. This paper shows, based on a minor survey and interviews with key partners, what the structural and cul-tural obstacles are, that brings about this hesitancy. The authors focus on the in-ability of the management to visualise the transition as well as imagining the next step. They also suggest a story-based maturity matrix as well as a competence development programme to bring the region of Southern Denmark closer to be-coming a Smart Tourism Destination.
