'Equality in Health' depend on both interprofessional collaboration regarding the individual
citizen, and that the professionals work together with the local communities creating the
framework for the citizens' (un)healthy life.
The new law for the Danish primary school demand for an "open school" depend on both the
teachers and kindergarten teacher collaborate, and that they work with parents and invite local
businesses, societies etc. to join the activities.
Theese two examples of new demand rely on the frontline public employees. They have the
closest contact with the citizens, which contain valuable knowledge, great innovation potential
and have a sense of ownership in the implementing process.
Through a 10 week intensive course students in interprofessional groups hook on to a community
and develop a project with them. The students work across professions in close collaboration with
the community, to increase the social capital. The meaning is for the students to evolve their
competencies in supporting citizens to take care of themselves and each other. This should result
in citizens becoming co-producers in an organised community, which goes beyond the individual.
The students practise taking initiative to co-creation between civic groups, professionals, private
corporations and volunteer organisations. The students must form a collaboration with a local
community and test a limited, concrete welfare benefit initiative for this particular community.
The students experience to act in the professional world where it is important to cede control and
at the same time ensure the quality. Their point of departure is in the challenges in the local
society - not the participants that will be a part of the solution.
Feedback from the communities is an essential part of the foundation for the examination. Here
the group shall reflect upon the interprofessional and intersectorial collaboration including
whether co-creation and citizenship was created or increased
