Abstract
Background: Hospital at home programs have emerged as an alternative to traditional inpatient care because there is a growing need for freeing up hospital resources. The patients at home have same requirements for safety and quality of care and treatment as in a hospital setting in terms of preventing healthcare-associated infections. infections. Healthcare professionals (HCP) need to be trained in performing a clinical assessment that ensures infection hygiene quality to be the same in the transition from hospitalization/admission to treatment and care in patients own home.

Aim: To conduct a scoping review including published scientific articles that have identified barriers, risk and guidelines for preventing of infections in relation to care and treatments in patients own home.
Methods:
We will conduct the protocol and the scoping review in accordance with the JBI methodology and
best practice for guidance, reporting and development of scoping review protocols. Furthermore, the scoping review will be conducted in accordance with the PRISMA-ScR guidelines, which includes five stages: identifying the research questions, identifying relevant studies, selecting relevant studies without quality assessment, charting data from the studies, and finally summarizing and reporting the results.
